In disappointing guidelines for commuters, the Centre has allowed cab aggregators Ola and Uber to double the fare from the base price during peak hours as against 1.5 times earlier as per the Motor Vehicles Aggregator Guidelines under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways of India.

During the non-rush hours, ride-hailing firms, such as Ola and Uber, cannot charge less than 50%, the guideline added.

However, 10% of the fare, not exceeding Rs 100, will be imposed on a driver if the ride is cancelled without reason. A similar penalty will be imposed on passengers for similar cancellations.

States need to adopt the revised guidelines within three months from the date of their issue, the ministry order mentioned.

Further, the base fare chargeable will be for a minimum of three kilometers to compensate for dead mileage, including the distance travelled without a passenger and the distance travelled and fuel utilized for picking up a passenger.

The driver onboarded along with the motor vehicle with the aggregator will receive 80% of the fare applicable, including all costs under the driver's fare. If the cab is owned by the aggregator, the driver will receive at least 60% of the fare applicable.

For passenger safety, the guidelines directed the cab aggregators to install vehicle location and tracking devices and ensure that the data remains within the aggregator's system and is linked to the state's integrated command and control centres.

Further, the centre has mandated the aggregators to establish control rooms with 24/7 operations and ensure that all motor vehicles onboarded maintain uninterrupted movements of motor vehicles and the onboarded drivers.

Same pay, different lives! Viral LinkedIn post sparks debate on urban lifestyle ROI

Former employees of The Good Glamm Group are still waiting for basic dues including salaries, gratuity, Form 16s, and experience letters. Some have even kept company assets like laptops as informal collateral. The company, once a poster child of India’s D2C boom, is now facing growing allegations of opacity and non-payment after multiple rounds of layoffs.

With appraisal season underway across corporate India, former employees of the Good Glamm Group are still chasing basic dues — not raises or bonuses. One former employee, from the customer service vertical at the company’s Mumbai office, shared that she hasn’t received her full January salary, full-and-final settlement, or gratuity. Despite repeated follow-ups, communication has dried up entirely. “We just get the same email every 10 days,” she said, adding that after the HR head exited, no one from the senior leadership has responded to laid-off staff. She’s also yet to receive Form 16, delaying her income tax filing.

Danica Dsouza who was executive assistant at Miss Malini, said she did receive her January salary and eventually got her relieving letter but only after repeated follow-ups. Her full-and-final settlement, however, remains unpaid. “The HR head was my only point of contact before he left, and since then, it’s just been the same copy-paste email everyone gets,” she said. While she wasn’t provided a company laptop due to the nature of her role, she confirmed that dues were repeatedly attributed to unnamed "lenders" without further explanation. Though she hasn’t faced tax-filing issues yet, the Form 16 is still pending. “Thankfully I’ve found another job, but many of my ex-colleagues are still struggling,” she added. Having spent only six months at the company, she is not eligible for gratuity.

While she has now secured another job, she said the experience left a bitter aftertaste. “We asked for experience letters and got them, so no trouble there. But there’s been complete silence otherwise. I even called to return the company laptop after my last day — they didn’t follow up on their own.” She also questioned the company’s continued narrative that delays are due to unnamed lenders.

Another Mumbai-based former employee who worked at the company for over five years said he is still awaiting his gratuity, two months of salary, and leave encashment. “Yes, I have secured a new job, but my hard-earned money is still stuck,” he said. “I gave my full commitment to MyGlamm for over 5 years. Neither the founder nor the management seems bothered to settle our dues.” 

While some former employees have managed to move on, others are still navigating instability. One ex-staffer based in the Delhi office said she is still in the thick of job interviews — without a Form 16 or her full dues. She received her last salary, but her full-and-final settlement and a few days’ salary are still pending. “I’m one of the lucky ones, I even got my gratuity — somehow,” she noted. 

She said this is the third major layoff and financial crisis she’s survived at the group — first at POPxo, which was acquired by MyGlamm during the pandemic, and twice after it became Good Glamm Group. “Appraisals didn’t happen for two years, and when they finally did, they were below inflation. It was enough to push people to leave.” She recalled the company’s founder mentioning during a townhall that laid-off staff would be supported in finding new jobs — but no such help ever came, she claims. 

Another former employee from the Delhi office said she hasn’t received her Form 16 or experience letter and has held on to her company laptop as collateral, with dues still pending. 

According to multiple current and former employees, the delays in clearing dues are being attributed internally to a lack of liquidity. 

The process, insiders say, is now being overseen not by the company’s leadership alone but by its venture debt lenders: Trifecta Capital, Alteria Capital, and Stride Ventures. These firms are reportedly leading all disbursement decisions and monitoring the situation closely.

Even current employees haven’t been paid in full. “They’ve been trying to release small amounts — around 25% of salaries — each week,” said a staffer. “It’s inconsistent. I’ve received a bit, but not all of it. The lenders are the ones taking those calls now.”

Storyboard18 has reached out to The Good Glamm Group for a response on the above. They declined to comment.

Cleartrip, a Flipkart company and one of India’s fastest-growing online travel technology platforms, has released new data that offers a window into this emerging cohort’s evolving travel habits.

According to Cleartrip’s latest Gen Z Travel Report, younger travellers aren’t just booking trips—they’re curating highly personalised experiences that reflect independence, convenience, and digital-first choices.

“Gen Z travellers are rewriting the rules of travel. For them, it’s not just a break, but a lifestyle choice and form of self-expression,” a Cleartrip spokesperson said.

1. Solo Travel is on the Rise
Cleartrip’s data shows Gen Z is 7% more likely to choose solo trips compared to other age groups. This marks a sharp shift from traditional family-driven holidays where choices and budgets were shared. Today’s younger travellers are heading to offbeat, experience-driven destinations—choosing adventure, nature, and quiet over sightseeing tours.

2. Digital-First, Flexible Payments
Gen Z’s independent streak shows up in how they pay. They use UPI 10% more often than other age groups, and over 10% prefer EMI-based travel payments, indicating an aspirational mindset: they want comfort and luxury, but on their own financial terms.

3. Convenience Matters
Meal-attached bookings are becoming more popular among Gen Z, highlighting a demand for hassle-free, full-service experiences that make travel smoother and more comfortable.

4. Flexibility and Value are Top Priorities
Flexible options like Cleartrip’s ClearChoice are particularly popular with Gen Z travellers, who value spontaneity and the freedom to change plans. They're also about 1 in 10 more likely to redeem reward points like SuperCoins and use travel coupons 1.5 times more often than other age groups, showing a keen eye for value.

5. Instagram is the New Travel Agent
Nearly 80% of Gen Z travellers decide on destinations after watching Instagram videos, making short-form social content their primary travel guide. This underscores their appetite for highly visual, peer-driven, and instantly shareable travel inspiration.

Together, these trends paint a portrait of a generation that isn’t just travelling more—it’s travelling differently. For Gen Z, trips are about self-expression, personal freedom, and digital convenience. As brands like Cleartrip adapt to these preferences, the future of Indian travel is set to look increasingly solo, flexible, and tailored to the individual.

Gen Z’s new rules of travel include 7% more solo trips, 10% more UPI payments

Luxury fashion giant Prada has formally acknowledged the ancient Indian roots of a new sandal design after images from its Milan fashion show triggered backlash from Indian artisans and politicians for failing to credit their craft.

At Prada’s runway show last weekend, models wore leather, open-toe sandals featuring a distinctive braided design strikingly similar to handmade Kolhapuri chappals—traditional Indian footwear whose designs date back to the 12th century.

The debut set off a wave of criticism in Indian media and among lawmakers, who accused the Italian brand of cultural appropriation without recognition. Kolhapuri chappals are named after the city of Kolhapur in Maharashtra, western India, and are known for their distinctive craftsmanship.

Responding to the controversy, Lorenzo Bertelli, Prada’s head of corporate social responsibility and son of the company's owners, sent a letter to the Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce on Friday acknowledging the Indian heritage of the design.

“We acknowledge that the sandals... are inspired by traditional Indian handcrafted footwear, with a centuries-old heritage,” Bertelli wrote in the letter seen by Reuters.

He added that the sandals remain at an early design stage and it is not certain they will be commercialized. Prada, he said, is open to “dialogue for meaningful exchange with local Indian artisans” and will arrange follow-up meetings to discuss the matter.

A Prada spokesperson separately confirmed the design’s inspiration, saying the company has “always celebrated craftsmanship, heritage and design traditions.”

The controversy has highlighted the stark price contrast between global luxury goods and local crafts: Prada’s men’s leather sandals typically retail for $844 and up, while Kolhapuri chappals can sell in India for as little as $12.

Though India’s luxury market remains small, it is growing quickly, with rising numbers of wealthy consumers buying Louis Vuitton bags, Lamborghini cars, luxury homes, and watches. At the same time, Indian culture and crafts are increasingly appearing in global luxury design. For example, high-end jeweller Bulgari offers a $16,000 Mangalsutra necklace inspired by the traditional marital chain worn by Indian women.

Bertelli’s letter came in response to a complaint from the Maharashtra trade group representing 3,000 Kolhapuri sandal artisans. As the online outcry gathered steam, India’s DNA News posted on X (formerly Twitter):

“From the dusty lanes of Kolhapur to the glitzy runways of Milan... will the world finally give credit where it's due?” Sambhaji Chhatrapati, a member of the Kolhapur royal family, told Reuters he was upset at the lack of initial acknowledgment for the sandal’s “150 years of history and heritage.”

But not all reactions have been negative. Kolhapur businessman Dileep More noted that some local artisans felt a sense of validation seeing their design on the global stage. “They are happy that someone is recognising their work,” he said.

Another segment transformed Kishore Kumar's classic line from Karz - "Kya tumne kabhi kisi ko pyaar kiya?" - into an inventive civic prompt: "Have you ever voted for someone? Have you ever ranked anyone?" The message was designed to demystify New York's ranked-choice voting system, especially for multilingual, immigrant voters unfamiliar with the process.

According to X's AI assistant Grok, Mamdani's video prominently used Urdu, a nod to New York's sizable South Asian population. While 2015 census data estimated around 114,000 Urdu-speaking residents in NYC, observers suggest the number has only grown - a demographic Mamdani successfully energized.

Beyond the cinematic packaging, Mamdani's campaign struck a chord with young and working-class voters through a bold populist vision. Positioning himself as the anti-establishment candidate, he declared, "Billionaires ke paas already sab kuch hai. Ab, aapka time aayega (Billionaires already have everything. Now, your time has come).”

His platform championed essentials—Roti, kapda aur makaan (food, clothing, shelter)—and included promises such as universal childcare, rent freezes, free public buses, and subsidized groceries.

In his victory speech on Tuesday night, Mamdani quoted Nelson Mandela, saying, “It always seems impossible until it’s done. My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it. I am honoured to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.”

Zohran Mamdani's Bollywood-powered campaign wins NYC Mayoral primary

Tata Sons, the $400-billion Tata Group’s holding company, has sought board approvals to establish a ₹500-crore trust aimed at providing financial assistance to families affected by the June 12 Air India crash in Ahmedabad. Chairman N Chandrasekaran briefed the board about the proposed trust at an interim meeting on Thursday, as per reports.

The fund will support the families of all 271 victims—both Indian and foreign nationals—including several British passengers. Initially, Tata considered separate trusts for Indian and foreign families, but has now opted for a unified structure.

The trust’s scope includes compensation payouts, medical care, and rebuilding the damaged medical school struck by the plane’s fuselage. The remaining corpus will be allocated for long-term support, such as children’s education, healthcare, and daily living expenses.

The initiative is being spearheaded by PB Balaji, group CFO of Tata Motors, who is developing a governance-compliant framework sensitive to the legal and cultural complexities surrounding the tragedy. The trust will also feature members from outside the Tata Group to ensure transparency and robust governance.

Tata Trusts is expected to contribute to the fund. The meeting was attended by Tata Trust nominees Noel Tata, Venu Srinivasan, and Vijay Singh. The move draws parallels with Tata’s 2008 post-26/11 initiative to support employees and families impacted by the Mumbai terror attacks.

N Chandrasekaran briefs Tata Sons Board on Rs 500 cr Air India crash relief fund

Industrialist Mukesh Ambani has revealed how his father, Dhirubhai Ambani, business approach is still followed by his company while starting a new venture.

According to Ambani, his father was a prudent person who set up a greenfield polyester factory, the biggest of its kind in India, in record time in the 60s.

Ambani, in an interview with McKinsey & Company said his father's teachings still exist in the DNA of Reliance. He said that the oil-to-retail conglomerate focuses on the critical need for India's development and how it can be fulfilled over a long arc of time. Consequently, Reliance has built businesses of the future.

"We can extrapolate the future 20 years from today. That’s why we didn’t hesitate to build polyester first or to build 4G before its time", Ambani added that the North Star always has been that the vision and purpose of doing business have to be impacted.

Textiles were very big in India in the 1960s, and polyester had just been invented. "My father decided to start trading in polyester. He demonstrated the benefits of economies of scale.

And now, four decades later, the conglomerate is building manufacturing ecosystems for green and clean energy amid a looming climate crisis, the industrialist added.

The suspension was implemented as a precautionary measure in response to escalating geopolitical tensions in the region. Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the closure was a proactive step to "ensure the safety of citizens, residents, and visitors."

By Tuesday, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed that air traffic had returned to normal. "The return of the atmosphere to normal" was made possible after close coordination with relevant agencies, the authority noted.

In an official statement, the GCAA expressed appreciation for the swift and effective collaboration across government bodies and stakeholders. "The Authority commends the great cooperation shown by all partners and the efforts of all state entities to ensure the safety and security of aviation in Qatari airspace,” the statement read.

Qatar Airways resumes operations following airspace reopening amid Middle East tensions

IndiGo Airlines has announced the gradual resumption of its operations in the Middle East, following the reopening of airspace in Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

The airline had earlier suspended flights across the region in response to escalating tensions in the Middle East.

"As airports across the Middle East gradually reopen, we are prudently and progressively resuming operations on these routes," IndiGo stated in a travel advisory on Tuesday. "We continue to monitor the situation closely and are fully considering the safest available flight paths to ensure secure and seamless travel."

The move comes after a brief closure of airspace by Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait on Monday night amid rising geopolitical tensions in the region. 

IndiGo had earlier posted on X that all its flights to and from cities including Doha, Dubai, Dammam, Bahrain, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Fujairah, Madinah, Muscat, Sharjah, Jeddah, Riyadh, Tbilisi, and Ras Al-Khaimah were suspended "at least until 1000 hrs" on Tuesday due to the "evolving situation."
