Meta has patched a serious security vulnerability in its AI chatbot platform that allowed users to access private prompts and AI-generated responses from other users, according to a TechCrunch report.

The bug was responsibly disclosed by Sandeep Hodkasia, founder of security testing firm AppSecure, who told TechCrunch he received a $100,000 bug bounty for the discovery.

Hodkasia identified the flaw on December 26, 2024, and Meta deployed a fix nearly a month later, on January 24, 2025. A Meta spokesperson confirmed the issue to TechCrunch, stating that the company "found no evidence of abuse and rewarded the researcher."

The vulnerability stemmed from the way Meta AI handled editable prompts. Logged-in users could regenerate text and images by editing their original input. However, Meta's servers assigned each prompt-response pair a unique, sequential number - one that Hodkasia discovered could be manipulated. By intercepting and altering this number through browser network traffic analysis, he was able to retrieve other users' content without authorization.

“The prompt numbers were easily guessable,” Hodkasia told TechCrunch, warning that malicious actors could have exploited this by using automated tools to scrape user data at scale.

Although Meta confirmed that no exploitation was detected, the incident underscores the ongoing privacy and security challenges tech firms face as they race to roll out generative AI tools. 

Meta’s standalone AI app, launched earlier this year to compete with platforms like ChatGPT, had already drawn criticism for privacy mishaps after some users unintentionally shared private conversations publicly.

Omnicom Group Inc. is accelerating its push into artificial intelligence (AI), with CEO John Wren and Chief Technology Officer Paulo Juveienko outlining a sweeping vision to embed AI into every facet of the company’s operations and client services. 

Speaking during the Q2 2025 earnings call, Wren reiterated that Omnicom’s transformation isn’t just about efficiency, it’s about unlocking entirely new creative and commercial opportunities.

“Our long-standing strategy has always been rooted in the belief that data and technology supercharge creativity,” said Wren. “In today's world, especially with the rise of generative AI, breakthrough creativity is more valuable than ever.”

Effective July 1, Omnicom reorganized its key data and tech assets, including Omni, OmniAI, Artbot, and Flywheel Commerce Cloud—into a new end-to-end platform organization. The restructured unit is being led by Duncan Painter and will be further enhanced by IPG’s data businesses, Kinesso and Acxiom, once the pending merger closes later this year.

Paulo Juveienko provided an inside look into how Omnicom’s proprietary datasets and generative AI strategy are reshaping the company’s workflows. “We’re deploying agentic frameworks throughout the organization. 

Rather than isolated AI tools addressing individual tasks, we can now orchestrate intelligent agents across campaign life cycles, simultaneously analyzing data, optimizing strategies, and refining creative elements. This capability is powered by proprietary data and institutional knowledge, democratizing access to our industry-leading consumer intelligence, encompassing behaviors, demographics, cultural insights, and transactions."

This is allowing Omnicom’s creative and media teams to scale mass personalization.

Juveienko shared that back in 2022, the holdco made the strategic decision to be an early adopter of generative AI, recognizing the transformative potential ahead of many of its competitors and clients. "Initially, our focus was on the obvious applications, using generative AI for ideation and content creation and copy generation, as well as distilling insights from audiences. These delivered immediate productivity gains, but they represented only the first phase of our AI strategy.

What is driving the latest phase of our continuous transformation has been the development and deployment of our agentic framework. Over the last year, we have been aggressively and systematically rolling out AI agents throughout our workflows, where we can deploy multiple AI agents that collaborate seamlessly to deliver comprehensive solutions."

Wren also pointed to a growing appetite among clients to reinvest in marketing when AI-powered tools can demonstrate measurable ROI. “If I ask you to spend a dollar, but I can prove to you that you're gonna get $2.20 back for it, you're gonna reinvest that money,” Wren said. “And the more of those scenarios there are, the more comfortable clients are going to be spending more.”

Juveienko also dismissed fears that tools like Google’s VO3 or OpenAI’s Sora would threaten agency margins. “We integrate early access to all major models and embed them within our workflows. These technologies are helping our teams explore creative territories they’ve never reached before.”

OpenAI experienced a global outage that brought its popular AI services including ChatGPT, Sora and the GPT API to a halt for millions of users worldwide. The outage, which began around 6:10 AM IST on July 16, marks the second significant service failure this month, sparking growing concerns about the platform’s reliability as demand for artificial intelligence tools surges globally.

According to outage tracking platform Downdetector, over 88% of user complaints were related to ChatGPT being entirely inaccessible. Others reported errors with OpenAI’s video-generation tool Sora and developer platform Codex. 

Users from North America, Europe and Asia, including India, flooded social media platforms with screenshots and messages detailing issues such as login failures, incomplete responses, sudden disconnections and verification loops.

OpenAI acknowledged the issue through its official status page, confirming “degraded performance” across multiple services. “We have identified elevated error rates and are working on a mitigation,” the company said, without specifying a timeline for resolution or the root cause of the outage. It remains unclear whether the disruption stems from a server overload, a software glitch, or another technical failure.

The latest breakdown has disrupted workflows for developers, content creators, researchers and businesses that rely on OpenAI’s tools daily. 

Many voiced their frustration online, questioning the platform’s stability amid increasing enterprise adoption. OpenAI has advised users to refrain from repeated login attempts, which could trigger security locks and to monitor the status page for real-time updates. It also recommended saving work externally to avoid potential data loss.

In what could be one of the most pivotal shifts in the digital content ecosystem in recent years, Meta has announced a sweeping crackdown on unoriginal content across its platforms. Accounts that repeatedly repost others' videos, or exist primarily to curate viral clips without transformation, now risk reduced visibility, demonetization, and limited distribution. 

The move mirrors YouTube’s similar update aimed at curbing duplicate video uploads and protecting the original creator economy.

The message from both tech giants is loud and clear: originality matters again.

“This isn’t a crackdown on remix culture—it’s a rebalancing of equity and effort in favor of those pushing culture forward,” said Mayank Gandotra, Director - Content and Growth Strategy at VerSe Colab. “Meta’s policies reaffirm that creators who invest time, creativity, and perspective deserve visibility, not copycats.”

From Meme Pages to Content Farms— Who’s Hit the Hardest?

Meme aggregators, compilation channels, reaction pages, and AI-driven content farms that thrived on volume over value are expected to bear the brunt.

“Those who’ve built followings by reposting without consent or context will see a sharp drop in both reach and revenue,” said Neelesh Pednekar, Co-Founder of Social Pill. “Meanwhile, original creators—whether vloggers, explainer artists, or documentarians—will be rewarded with better distribution and higher RPMs.”

Digital creator Anisha Dixit echoed this sentiment. “For creators like me whose videos are often reposted without permission, this is a huge step forward. But I do hope platforms find a balance—satire, commentary, and reaction formats deserve space under fair use.”

She pointed to a recent incident where even a few seconds of news footage led to YouTube strikes. “If reused content always equals a penalty, we’ll lose the space for critique and creativity. The platforms must evolve smarter filters, not blanket bans.”

Anushka Sanghvi, CMO of Nofiltr Group, sees deeper creative opportunities too. “We’ll now push for content IPs, story-led brand formats, and creators with a clear voice—not just trendy edits. Platforms rewarding originality make the whole ecosystem healthier.”

Brands Back Originality, Say It’s Time

For marketers, the shift toward originality couldn’t come sooner. Advertisers are already taking note of the shift in creator evaluation metrics.

Shankar Prasad, CEO of Plum, welcomed the move as one that restores trust and transparency. “From a brand’s POV, this makes partnerships more transparent,” he said. “We get to see who’s building real communities and crafting their own voice. That clarity helps us choose collaborators whose values align with ours.”

Manish Chowdhary, Co-Founder of WOW Skin Science, agrees. “We believe this is a maturity signal. It helps us prioritize creators who bring genuine innovation and storytelling, over those who chase virality through mimicry.”

As Irina Bonich, Marketing Director of Oriflame, puts it, “We’re entering an age where creativity—not just clicks—earns the spotlight. This is not just platform hygiene; it’s a creative renaissance.”

Across the board, brand leaders agree that the crackdown levels the playing field for creators and allows advertisers to make more informed, intentional choices.

“This policy update discourages viral vultures and elevates those telling personal, purposeful stories. For us, it’s a chance to build skincare series or transformation narratives that actually resonate.”

Bonich emphasizes that with less competition from low-quality, recycled posts, branded content is also more likely to stand out and connect. “Reduced clutter means better ROI. Meta isn’t just protecting creators—they’re restoring signal in a sea of noise.”

Overall, experts believes this policy shift will not only affect content planning but also campaign strategy. 

“For agencies and brands, this changes how we brief creators,” says Himanshu Singla, CEO of Idiotic Media. “We’re now looking for storytellers, not schedulers. If you’re just reposting trends, your value to a brand shrinks.”


The Facebook Factor

While Instagram and YouTube dominate Gen Z attention, Facebook is quietly re-entering the creator conversation. “Outside metros, Facebook is still deeply relevant,” highlihts Gandotra. “With Reels and an AI-curated feed, it offers scale and cultural depth for creators who can speak authentically.”

Aryan Anurag, co-founder of Binge Labs agrees that Facebook’s relevance varies. “It’s still a first platform for Tier 3 and regional creators. These policy changes may encourage them to build with more originality instead of just cross-posting.”

“Now that Meta is signaling serious investment in original Facebook content—like Reels, Groups, and Watch—we’ll likely see a shift in content made for Facebook, not just cross-posted to Facebook, say experts.

Singla believes this marks the end of the cross-post-everywhere strategy. “If Facebook truly begins rewarding native and original content, it’ll no longer be just a dumping ground for recycled Reels. It’ll need platform-first thinking again.” 

Advertisers, too, are watching this space with fresh eyes. 

“Facebook’s pivot to originality gives us another high-scale platform to work with,” said Sanghvi. “If creators start taking Facebook seriously again, we could build long-term formats, behind-the-scenes content, or even fan community IPs that go beyond trends.”

In a landmark decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals has struck down the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) “click‑to‑cancel” rule, which was designed to simplify subscription cancellations by requiring digital services to offer cancellation methods as easy as the sign-up process. 

The rule had been set to go live on July 14, 2025, but judges found that the FTC failed to complete a required economic impact analysis for regulations projected to exceed $100 million in annual effect, rendering the rule procedurally flawed. This regulation was part of the Joe Biden administration’s broader consumer protection agenda, aimed at reducing digital friction and ensuring fair treatment in online services.

Supporters argued that such transparency would reduce negative-option marketing traps that lock consumers into recurring charges.

With the rule struck down, streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and HBO Max are no longer obligated to maintain frictionless cancellation processes.

Though most currently allow straightforward opt-outs, services could choose to reintroduce hoops such as hidden settings, multi-page flows, or phone-based cancellations to reduce churn and boost revenue.

The ruling also carries global implications. Streaming giants tend to standardize subscription experiences worldwide. If they alter cancellation protocols in response to the U.S. court decision, users in countries like India, where consumer regulation and enforcement vary, could also see more cumbersome procedures.

YouTube is doubling down on discovery for smaller creators in India with the launch of Hype - a feature designed to amplify emerging voices on the platform.

After successful beta runs in Turkey, Taiwan, and Brazil, where over 5 million hypes were cast across 50,000+ unique channels, Hype is now live in one of YouTube's most dynamic creator ecosystems.

India's creator community, spanning languages, genres, and regions, has become a global force - but for creators with smaller followings (between 500 and 500,000 subscribers), getting noticed can still be a steep climb.

Here's how it works: Viewers can "hype" a newly published video (within 7 days of upload) up to three times a week, completely free of charge. Each hype contributes points to a video, propelling it up a dedicated leaderboard featured under the Explore tab. The top 100 most-hyped videos get extra visibility - with a chance to break into the YouTube home feed.

But it’s not just a numbers game. YouTube is also factoring in a bonus point system for smaller creators - the fewer subscribers you have, the more bonus points your hyped videos earn. Beyond exposure, Hype also serves as a pulse-check - a new way for audiences to show which creators and content they’re vibing with the most. Badges on hyped videos will indicate fan-favorite status, adding another layer of credibility and recognition.

YouTube launches 'Hype' in India to boost visibility for emerging creators

Tejas Networks reported a loss of Rs 193.87 crore in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026. The company's losses have widened sequentially, registering Rs 71.80 crore of losses in the previous quarter (January-March) in fiscal year 2025. 

Notably, in Q1 FY24, Tejas Network had reported a profit of Rs 77.48 crore, and full fiscal 2025, it clocked a consolidated profit of Rs 446.53 crore.

The optical, broadband, and data networking products company's revenue from operations has dropped by 95.04 percent to Rs 201.98 crore in Q1 FY26 compared to Rs 1,562.77 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.

The total income has also plunged to Rs 211.53 crore, with an 86.57 percent decline year-on-year, while on a sequential basis, it declined by 89 percent. Tejas Network had clocked a revenue of Rs 1,914.98 crore in the previous quarter (January to March), ending on 31 March 2025.

According to the stock exchange filing, Tejas Networks attributed the Q1 losses to a range of factors, including delayed receipts of purchase orders (PO), delayed inventory arrival, and shipment clearances for a few customers.

In the wireless business, Tejas received automated purchase orders for an additional 18,685 sites for BNL's 4G expansion during Q1 FY25. The company also received an initial order for a private 5G deployment under BSNL’s CNPN (Captive Non-Public Network) initiative.

The Tata Sons-owned company also teamed up with Intel to integrate direct-to-mobile (D2M) capability in laptops. Besides, Lava and HMD India announced plans to launch D2M-enabled mobile phones using Tejas’s SL-3000 chipsets.

In the April to June quarter, Tejas Networks won tenders in the infrastructure sector, such as the supply of wireline equipment to railways, oil and gas, and defence.

Shares of Tejas Networks declined by 6.04 percent to Rs 657.25 apiece on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) at 1:14 pm (IST).

Instagram is stepping out of its social-media bubble. Starting July 10, 2025, public content from professional accounts, specifically Business and Creator profiles run by users over 18, are appearing in search results on platforms like Google and Bing.

This shift marks a significant departure from the platform’s historical strategy of limiting content visibility to within the Instagram ecosystem.

Eligible content, including photos, Reels, carousels, and videos, uploaded since January 1, 2020, can now show up in web searches. The changes were enabled via both in-app alerts and updates to Instagram’s Help Center, clarifying that indexing applied only to newer, public professional posts.

Other content types such as personal account posts, private profiles, Stories, highlights, comments, and DMs remain excluded.

It is to be noted that for a while now, public Instagram posts have been indexed and accessible via Google Search in many parts of the world. Instagram is now expanding this capability, making public posts discoverable through Google in additional regions where it wasn't previously available.

Indexing will be enabled by default, though users can opt out by switching to a private or personal profile or toggling off the setting in their privacy controls.

For creators and brands, this opens a new avenue for discoverability. Instagram posts can now function as evergreen content that live beyond the feed, a boon for SEO strategies, especially in fields like travel, fashion, food, and local services.

Users are encouraged to pay greater attention to captions, alt text, and hashtags, elements that now matter for search ranking as much as for in‑platform engagement.

For Goyal, it seems, it’s a reminder that behind every late-night meal or morning chai order, there’s someone writing code, building a business, studying for an exam, or simply chasing a better life. Zomato’s role, Goyal notes, is to support these people, not distract them, as they show up for what they care about, every single day.

At a time when many brands try to shoehorn themselves into their customers’ personal narratives, Goyal’s post positions Zomato as an enabler rather than a hero.

In one of its largest crackdowns to date, Meta has removed more than 10 million fake Facebook profiles in a single month, signaling a renewed commitment to curb spam and deceptive content on its platform. The company revealed the action as part of a broader push to ensure the authenticity and integrity of content, particularly in the lead-up to major elections around the world.

"We believe that creators should be celebrated for their unique voices and perspectives, not drowned out by copycats and impersonators," Meta said in its blog.

But there’s more to do, it said. Too often the same meme or video pops up repeatedly ‑ sometimes from accounts pretending to be the creator and other times from different spammy accounts. It dulls the experience for all and makes it harder for fresh voices to break through.

To improve users Feed, the platform is introducing stronger measures to reduce unoriginal content on Facebook and ultimately protect and elevate creators sharing original content.

"Unoriginal content reuses or repurposes another creator's content repeatedly without crediting them, taking advantage of their creativity and hard work. 

We love it when creators reshare content, add commentary in a reaction video or join in on a trend, adding their unique take. What we want to combat is the repeated reposting of content from other creators without permission or meaningful enhancements," Meta said.

The blog mentions that Meta now is introducing stronger measures to combat this behavior on Facebook. 

"Accounts that improperly reuse someone else’s videos, photos or text posts repeatedly will not only lose access to Facebook monetization programs for a period of time, but will also receive reduced distribution on everything they share."

In addition, if its systems detect duplicate videos on Facebook, it will reduce the distribution of the copies so that original creators can get the visibility that they deserve. 

"We’re also exploring ways to provide proper attribution to creators. For example, we're testing adding links on duplicate videos that point viewers to the original piece of content."

The action against spam and inauthentic content comes as Meta increases its investment in AI, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Monday announcing plans to spend “hundreds of billions of dollars” on AI compute infrastructure to bring the company’s first supercluster online next year.

It is to be noted that last week, YouTube too had announced a change in policy that prevents content that is mass-produced or repetitive from being eligible for being awarded revenue.
